You Can Win $2,000 Worth of Free Wedding Goods at This Grooms’ Event in Old City

This one’s for the grooms: On May 14th, Old City wedding vendors are coming together to host an evening of drinks, discussions and shopping — plus the chance to win thousands of dollars of free stuff. (But note: Couples, not just grooms, are invited!) Dubbed Cocktail Hour on 2nd Street, the groom-focused wedding event is the brainchild of SuitShop (formerly The Groomsman Suit), Hitched and Damari, and seeks to help you navigate the world of formal attire, bands and engagement rings, grooming, boutonnieres and florals, and gifts.

“We all feel that there is a gap in the market for groom-centric wedding events,” says SuitShop co-founder Jeanne Foley. “We wanted to host something fun where couples can gain valuable knowledge and expert advice specifically tailored to the groom.”

Here’s how it works: Attendees must register in advance (tickets are $30 and include admission for two) and check in between 5 and 6:30 p.m. the evening of the event. (The registration desk is located near 2nd and Arch streets.) You’ll get your map and a swag bag to fill with free goodies from each vendor you visit. You can go in any order, and different elements will occur inside and out over a two-block radius. (A limited number of folks will be allowed indoors at one time.) Take note: You’ll need to add a provided sticker to your map at each spot to be entered into the $2,000 package giveaway. So, what’s in the package? A look from SuitShop, a custom shirt from bespoke clothier Damari and a tungsten ring from Hitched — to name a few.

Among the other vendors are Tessa Marie Images, who will be snapping couple portraits in front of Amberella’s Choose Love & Getting Hitched mural (click here to see how one couple incorporated the art into their engagement photos), as well as Madisyn Smith, wedding planner at Pampas & Poppy Event Co.; NE Flower Boutique; V’s Barbershop; Garces Dental and event photographer Phil Kramer. (Hitched co-owners Chris and Stephanie Sammons, Damari head designer Alyssa DiMarcantonio, and SuitShop showroom manager Sara Brady will also be on hand to chat.)

As for the other perks, tickets include four drinks (brews from Roy-Pitz Barrel House will be available at Hitched and SuitShop) and discounts from the participating businesses. The evening runs till 8 p.m., and the winner will be announced May 18th. Click here for more information.
