Mayor Nutter, Philly Firefighters Really Don’t Like Each Other

Well, that could’ve been nice. Mayor Nutter today cut the ribbon on the city’s first new fire station in 15 years—only to be interrupted by an estimated 200 members of the firefighters union angry over their long-running contract dispute with City Hall. ” “Why don’t you honor the firefighters’ contract?  Respect, respect!” one firefighter yelled. Nutter brushed off the criticism. “This is a spectacular achievement by the city,” he said. “And if other people want to do other things, that’s their right as Americans. But I think the community (of Tacony) was pretty excited (by the station opening), and that makes me pretty happy.” [CBS Philly]
