With a new construction fence wrapping the lot at at 31st and Thompson, all signs are starting to point towards another big project getting underway soon near Fairmount Park in Brewerytown. As Naked Philly points out, it comes hot off the heels of the completion another large apartment complex on the southwest corner, 31 Brewerytown. In fact, this new project on the southeast corner is by the same developer, Westrum Development.

Permits for the property at 3018 West Thompson Street show this new project is going to be a sizable one:

FOR THE ERECTION OF AN ATTACHED STRUCTURE ( 47.I ‘ HIGH); BALCONY FROM SECOND (2ND ) FLOOR LEVEL THROUGH FORTH ( 4TH ) FLOOR LEVEL WITH FIFTY-FOUR (54) OFF-STREET , OPEN AIR PARKING SPACES INCLUDING WITH THREE(3) ACCESSIBLE PARKING SPACES, TWELVE(12) OFF-STREET PARKING GARAGE, AND SEVENTEEN ( 17) BICYCLE SPACES LOCATED ALONG AN ACCESSIBLE ROUTE AND FOR THE ERECTION OF TRASH ENCLOSURE WITH SIX(6) FEET HIGH FENCE .

For a little perspective, 31 Brewerytown consists of 64 rental units, each with their own assigned parking space. The news just keeps rolling for Brewerytown. Though the Bottom Dollar Food store closed, Aldi will reopen in its place. More recently, a craft brewery called Crime & Punishment Brewing Co. opened near 27th and Girard.
