This Fun Wedding Shoot Makes Us Want To Get Married In Cape May ASAP

Old-fashioned surrey rides and a beach picnic with champagne? Sign us up!

Ever think about ditching the big ceremony and eloping in a simple, minimalist wedding down the shore? As much as we love a giant reception, we can also get behind the romance of an elopement, too — especially if it’s in a gorgeous, summery spot like Cape May at the Congress Hall hotel. This charming shoot by Haley Richter Photography and Clover Event Co. features sea glass-inspired beach blue hues, a wild surrey ride, and one adorable pup. Check it all out in the photos below.

Cape May’s Victorian architecture and beach charm makes it a perfect setting for a wedding getaway. The historic Congress Hotel was a beautiful backdrop for photos. The couple’s elegant but casual looks paired well with the light teal and blue tones inspired by the ocean water and the smooth sea glass used as propping for the picnic and detail shots.

The bride carried a bouquet with  double tulips, butterfly ranunculus, daffodil, delphinium, plus an air plant for good measure, all from The Farm At Oxford and Jig Bee Floral Farm. To create her  carefree look, she was styled in bohemian blue earrings paired with her long “Celine” gown from Nicole Miller in Manayunk. A special canine guest helped with all of the photos. Our  favorite part though, just might be the fact that they took a spin on a classic old-fashioned Cape May surrey before they headed to the sand for their nuptials. Could this be any more adorable?

The day ended with a gorgeous elopement ceremony on Higbee Beach, featuring a carpet and rattan lanterns sourced by Clover, and macrame from Maggpie Vintage. After the ceremony, there was a fun outdoor picnic at sunset, while the couple happily frolicked in the sand. Seems like what beach wedding dreams are made of, no?
