PW Reader Ring: Dana & Alex!

The ring: My ring has a round diamond set in white gold with a diamond halo and diamond band. Alex designed it at James Jewelers in Parsippany—he hand-picked the stone in the shop and then they custom-ordered the ring.

We never went shopping together, though I had mentioned I liked round diamonds. It ended up being exactly what I would have picked out if I had gone my self!

The proposal: This past December, we took our moms to Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square for the Christmas lighting in the park that they’ve wanted to go to since the previous year.

We walked around looked at all of the lights for a while, and then we went down to where a waterfall was suppose to happen with lit up trees—and he got down on one knee and popped the question! (Unfortunately there was no waterfall, but I didn’t even notice.) I had no idea what was going on, and during his proposal, it turned out there were two photographers taking pictures of the whole thing, which we ended up using as our engagement photos.

We strolled around the park for a little longer, and took some more pictures, and when we were finished, we took our moms to dinner. To my surprise when I walked into the restaurant, the rest of our families were there (my sisters, brother-in-law, dad, his dad, stepmom, grandmom and brother), and the photographer came as well to take more pictures with everyone. Every second of that night was perfect.

The band: I am going with a custom band matching my engagement ring: a small, skinny band with diamonds around it.
