UPDATE: Police have called off the search after receiving information that the inmate, Daniel Selby, has allegedly fled the area.

This is a developing story.

The Central Bucks School District is closed today as police continue their search for an escaped prisoner.

Doylestown police said the inmate, 25-year-old Daniel Selby, escaped around 10:30 p.m last night while being transported from a Montgomery County facility to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.

Selby, who police said has no history of violence, is described as a 6-foot tall man with brown hair and a scruffy beard. Police say he was last seen at a 7-Eleven in Edison Village, wearing an orange shirt, a transport belt and handcuffs that he hid using a white blanket.

Via a reverse 911 call system, police issued a shelter-in-place recommendation late last night for residents in the Warrington and Chalfont areas. The recommendation was lifted this morning while the search continues.

Police have advised residents to remain vigilant, and anyone with information is asked to call 911.
