Daniel Gutter, the owner and head pizza guy at Circles + Squares (and the brain behind Philly’s most beloved pizza-related Instagram account, Pizza Gutt), has announced that he is opening a new location at 1846 South 12th Street in South Philly in the former Key Pizza location. Pizza Plus, as Gutter is calling it, is expected to open in early March.

Gutter started out with what he calls “Instagram’s first pizza shop” popping up at W/N/W/N coffee, Martha, and other spots in Fishtown. We reviewed it back in 2017, and we loved it. Then last spring, he opened Circles + Squares, a permanent brick-and-mortar shop where he serves only pizza.

At Pizza Plus, Gutter will serve hand-tossed circular pizzas and round pan pizza with the same the same dough, sauce, and fried cheese edges as the square pies he makes at his Kensington location. There will also be smash burgers, chicken tenders, fries and a few other items, taking advantage of the kitchen’s grill and fryer.

Gutter says they’ve already been in the space, cleaning and preparing, for about a month, which is why he’s aiming for such a quick opening. Kensington’s pizza lovers need not worry, he says the opening of Pizza Plus has no effect on Circles + Squares.
