That’s why we have put together this list of a few upcoming spring wedding events in the Philadelphia area. Each spring wedding event offers something unique as couples begin prepping for their own celebrations, and we encourage you to check them out.
Grace + Ivory Pop Up
From April 25th to May 7th, Chicago-based try-at-home bridal brand Grace + Ivory will be showing off its customizable, made-to-measure creations in Old City. Founder and CEO Tina Wong, who launched the company in 2017, will be offering private appointments. (Book yours here.) Wong plans to offer samples for try-on in sizes between 4 and 16 (she says the latter is larger than a typical bridal 16), with a few new designs in addition to her classic styles. If you don’t settle on a dress at the pop-up, experience try-at-home for free. (The typical cost is $25 per dress.) The gown will arrive in a pretty reusable box with clips, a soft measuring tape, and a prepaid return shipping label. You’ll have three days to return the samples — if you find one you like, you can order directly off the website and consult with stylists on personalizations. Wong will also will be participating in the Old City Wedding Stroll, which you can read about below. 65 North 2nd Street.
Old City Wedding Stroll
Last year, we deemed Old City a one-stop shop of all things wedding, and the neighborhood continues to prove our point with the second annual Old City Wedding Stroll on April 26th. Between 5 and 8 p.m., 45-plus businesses will open their doors to couples so they can get an inside look at their offerings via meet-and-greets, consultations, tours and food samplings. Expect to pop into myriad salons stocked with wedding attire for the couple and their attendants; visit historic landmarks, hotels and industrial wedding venues; stop and smell the bouquets and centerpieces at local florists; get a hair or makeup demo (or both) at stylish beauty spots; snack on wedding-worthy fare at various restaurants; and create a candle and signature scent at Wax + Wine. Click here for the full list. The stroll is free to attend, but registration is required (and you can do so up to the day of the event). You’ll also have the chance to win a gift basket valued at $2,000. Various locations.
Philly Indie Wedding Showcase
Over at the Bok Building in South Philly, independent wedding vendors have come together to highlight their one-of-a-kind offerings during a one-day showcase on April 29th beginning at 10 a.m. Among the businesses are Kinfolk Bride, the new appointment-only, inclusive, sustainable bridal studio that we recently told you about; vegan and cruelty-free skin- and hair-care brand Franklin & Whitman, which has a new collection of custom soy was candles; Minimal Chaos, whose hand-knotted rugs can be rented for your Big Day; Second Daughter Baking Co., whose approach to cakes is clever, sweet and flower-crowned; and Remark Glass, a zero-waste glassblowing studio that turns bottles (champagne, wine, beer) from your Big Day into treasured glasses at home. (See the full list here.) Drinks will be on offer, and women-owned Photodelphia will be snapping Polaroids for you to take home. The $50 event price includes two tickets; get yours here. Studios 513 (Kinfolk Bride) & 514 (Franklin & Whitman), 1901 South 9th Street.
Be Well Philly Fest
Okay, so Be Well Philly Fest isn’t technically a wedding event — but it’s all about health and wellness, which couples-to-be need to keep in mind as they plan their Big Days. (Because wedding planning can be stressful, amirite?) Set this year for May 7th — also at the Bok Building — the event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and seeks to keep your body and mind motivated, empowered and inspired. This year, you can expect express workouts and hands-on wellness activities — all designed to leave you feeling your absolute best self. There will also be an interactive vendor marketplace featuring good-for-you samples and services from an array of local businesses and a healthy-ish happy hour. Tickets cost $40 and can be purchased here.
Spring Open House at Tyler Gardens
After you’ve wrapped up at Be Well Philly Fest, head over to a Spring Open House at Tyler Gardens, which runs from 2 to 4 p.m. A venue of Open Aire Affairs, the formal gardens were constructed in 1931 and were influenced by French and Italian landscapes with gorgeous florals and greenery, lawns, stone walls and staircases, sculptures and more elements that make a beautiful backdrop to your wedding festivities (from engagement photos to the Big Day). During the event, the team will stage a wedding scene so you can get an idea of what your celebration could look like. In-house La Rue Events will be on hand for consultations, and caterers will offer cuisine. A number of other vendors are getting involved, too, from Sugarbomb Entertainment — which set the musical vibe for Philadelphia Wedding’s Bubbly & Brunch — to Newtown Party Rental. Tickets cost $7 and are available here. 275 Swamp Road, Newtown.
