8 Sweat-Proof Makeup Products for Your Summer Wedding

Philly bridal makeup artist Victoria Roggio dishes on her faves.

Summer Bride Beauty Makeup

In case the weather the past two weeks—and your gross-feeling, refusing-to-stay-put makeup—has got you worrying about your upcoming wedding (and pre-wedding parties) still on this summer’s calendar, we don’t blame you. Humidity like this is unkind to hair and faces alike, and no one wants their wedding photos to scream I am drowning in my own sweat when they look back on their day.

Now, if you’ve hired a reputable professional makeup artist, you can rest assured that he or she has an armory of gross weather-specific products that should keep you covered on your high-temp wedding day. But if you’re doing your own makeup—and for all those events leading up to it (the mid-day outdoor bridal shower, shore bachelorette party, etc.), you’re going to want to have a few products on hand to combat the elements in which you are celebrating.

Our gals over at Shoppist chatted with PW friend and Philly makeup artist Victoria Roggio, who has done a bajillion brides’ makeup, about the go-to hot-weather products in her arsenal. Take a look—and then get shopping.

If you’re trying to get sweat-proof makeup on lock, you have to start out right. Primers are essential for creating a smooth, sweat-free canvas for your makeup and Roggio is particularly fond of Smashbox Photo Finish (1) and Becca’s Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector (3). She says that both are perfect for people with oily/combination skin as they really target oil build-up in the T-zone, leaving you with a clean, matte finish. To combat sweaty, oily skin after creating a look, carry around some blotting papers (my oil slick of a face loves these from Boscia (2)) to remove excess oil without disturbing your makeup.
