PW Reader Ring: Amy & Tom!

Amy’s ring!
The couple: Amy Bloomfield and Tom Curry, Northeast Philly.
The ring: My ring is a round solitaire diamond on a 14-karat white-gold band. Tom designed it through Blue Nile. We dated for six years prior to getting engaged so he knew exactly what I was hopping for: a timeless engagement ring that I would cherish forever! He has similar taste when it comes to rings, and after a ton of research and shopping around, he was set on this style.
The proposal: Tom proposed at Belmont Plateau in Fairmount Park!
I knew I wanted to marry Tom for about, hmm, five years! We had started to talk more and more about getting engaged and Tom seemed to be ready, so for months I had had many suspicions as to when it might happen!
The weekend before he asked, Tom had asked me to go for a picnic with him the following Monday. My initial response was, “That sounds fun—it’s a good thing you asked beforehand and didn’t surprise me or I would’ve thought you were going to ask me to marry you, ha!” He laughed off my comment and said something like, “Yeah, I wouldn’t do that.”
Tom picked me up from work and we headed to Belmont Plateau in Fairmont Park. It was overcast and cloudy, and Tom seemed to be very worried about the weather. I was oblivious—I was not thinking this was happening! It was cloudy but beautiful otherwise.
Tom brought wine and snacks. We chatted a little and Tom asked me to get up so he could take my picture with the skyline behind me. As I walked back to him … he asked! The best part was that he had a friend and photographer there to capture the whole thing!

The band: We recently purchased a wedding band that we both love—it’s a showstopper! It was designed and made by DeSimone Jewelers on Jewelers’ Row and has 10 round-cut diamonds in a common prong setting. I cannot wait to wear it!
