The Best Thing That Happened This Week: The Phillies Started Spring Training

Batter up!

Oh sure, maybe you have three inches of dense, drippy snow on your driveway, but the Phillies are in Clearwater, Fla., where it’s 79 degrees and sunny at the moment. There’s a new manager in the dugout, and we like him! (We like him a lot.) Single-game tickets are now on sale! Those powder-blue uniforms are coming out of the closet, and we’ll all pretend it’s thanks to nostalgia for the 10th anniversary of the World Series win and not just so MLB can sell more crapola.

Not to mention that the Eagles and the Sixers have taught this town what it’s like to root for winners. Hey, no pressure, Gabe, okay? What they say about Philly fans? Man, that’s just not true.
