It’s Official: Winter Is Third-Snowiest on Record

The largest total? Just four years ago.

AP: “The National Weather Service says the 3 inches recorded Tuesday at Philadelphia International Airport has boosted the snow total since December to 58.4 inches. Meteorologist Valerie Meola of the weather service office in Mount Holly, N.J. says that pushed the 55.4 inches recorded in 1898-99 down to fourth place. Snowfall records for the city go back to 1884.” The snowiest winter?  78.7 inches in 2009-10.
