Study: Passengers, Not Pilots, Should Fart While Flying
Science! Danish gastroenterologist Jacob Rosenberg has done the research and determined that it’s good for passengers to fart while flying—holding it in can be uncomfortable and even painful—but that pilots should refrain. “On the one hand, if the pilot restrains a fart, all the drawbacks previously mentioned, including impaired concentration, may affect his abilities to control the plane,” Rosenberg’s study concluded. “On the other hand, if he lets go of the fart, his co-pilot may be affected by its odor, which again reduces safety onboard the flight.” The best news out of all of this is that the sequel to Denzel Washington’s recent movie, Flight, practically writes itself.
