Guilty Verdict in Rutgers Webcam Case
A jury has found former Rutgers student Dharun Ravi guilty of invasion of privacy, witness tampering, tampering with evidence and bias intimidation. Ravi’s roommate at Rutgers, Tyler Clementi, committed suicide after Ravi had witnessed a sexual encounter between Clementi and another man in September of 2010. The prosecution alleged that Ravi witnessed the encounter by spying on his roommate with a webcam and then told friends and tweeted about what he saw. Ravi could face 10 years in prison and deportation. He’ll be sentenced in May. [Inquirer]
