Pulse: A&E: Long Live the King

All Shook Up! delivers two hours of Elvis classics

Like most Elvis Presley songs, this Broadway jukebox musical (with a book by Joe DiPietro, who wrote the long-running I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change) combines just two elements: romance and rock ‘n’ roll. Lead character Natalie, like most ambitious young ‘uns in the ’50s, dreams of making it out of her small, provincial backwater. But she doesn’t have to leave quite yet when a good-looking, gyrating guitar player brings himself and rock ‘n’ roll to town. Presley performances include "Heartbreak Hotel," "Jailhouse Rock," "Blue Suede Shoes," and, of course, "All Shook Up."
