Sustainable Saturdays in University City

The West Philadelphia Local Food Series can teach you to eat fresh and local this summer

Good for your body and the environment - Sustainable Saturdays in University City

It’s summer, and that means many fruits and veggies are at their best and brightest. It’s the perfect time of year to hone your gardening skills, explore local food markets, and taste some delicious, fresh fare.

Check out Sustainable Saturdays in University City for a host of workshops and events, including a “Farm-to-Table Trolley Tour,” the Clark Park Farmers’ Market, and a free walking tour of University City’s community gardens and urban farms. Learn about where to grab (or grow) some fresh local produce, and sample some tasty finds.

The next event kicks off on August 20 with the theme “From Seed to Compost,” where you can learn how to make your own composting bin.

Prices vary by event (see site for details), August 20, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., University City.
