If we’re being technical, the Lodge at Woodloch bills itself as a luxury spa destination — and with its indoor pool, salon, trio of hot tubs, and a treatment menu that stretches from body wraps, facials and massages to hydrotherapy and reiki, that’s certainly an apt descriptor. But this resort, tucked three hours away from Philly in the far northeast corner of our state, is also (surprise!) a food lovers’ paradise. Read more »
Philadelphia offers much in the way of fall’s best offerings: seasonal street festivals, your pick of ripe autumn veggies at any number of local farmers markets, and there’s a pumpkin latte on just about every corner in town. But don’t short-change yourself with a stroll through Rittenhouse park to get your annual viewing of the changing leaves. We’ve got whole forests of trees right at our doorstep. Take off early one Friday from now through November to embark on a long weekend in the Poconos, where gorgeous scenery and a much-needed reprieve from the hustle-bustle of city life abound.
We’ve been to a lot of beer festivals, and we can say with a fairly high degree of certainty that there’s not really anyone in attendance at those festivals that we’d want to see naked. So the idea of a naked beer festival (and in the Poconos!) has us curling up into a fetal position. Note: NUDITY IS REQUIRED. Read more »
Remember the Poconos lodge with the ample 100-acre outdoors and rustic interior with unique lifelike decor? If not, maybe the gallery or our last post about it will jog your memory.

Is it the giant ursine figure looming over the living room? The six deer heads on the wood-paneled wall? The rifle as decorative touch in the homey country dining room? The mopey moose above the fireplace? Are these listings photos doing this property a disservice? We wonder.
Because aside from the dead things, this house is pretty perfect as a Poconos get-away. It has all the classic lodge hallmarks: a two-story stone fireplace; plenty of wood detailing inside, including floors and cabinets and walls and molding; exterior wood shingles; 100 acres of land; and a plethora of square footage, with the added bonus of a two-bedroom apartment above a three-car heated garage. You can smell the wood smoke and hear the snap of twigs beneath your feet from here.
This lovely Poconos lodge listed by Waring Bowman Realty was custom built on 100 acres of land. There’s a master bedroom on the first floor, and four additional bedrooms on the second. As additional space, there’s a 2-bedroom 1,200-square-foot apartment above the heated 3-car garage. Plenty of room for huge family vacations or group jaunts, though the broker also suggests the large property could be used as a hunting retreat, church or corporate site.
