It’s no wonder so many animals featured in their wedding: Chloe and Chris met at the University of Pennsylvania during their veterinary training. Chloe thought Chris was was very quiet and mysterious at first. “When I got to know him, I thought he was very sweet, funny, and kind to everyone he cared about,” she says. He remembers thinking she was cute and smart. For their first date, they went for a casual jaunt to one of the best cheeseburger and shake places we can think of: Shake Shack in Rittenhouse!

After the couple dated for three and a half years, Chris proposed to Chloe in an adorable style at home. He cooked her breakfast, and put a bouquet of roses on the table, with an engagement ring around the rose stems. It took Chloe a while to realize it was there, but once she did, she said yes immediately. “It took me two hours to realize it was there!” she laughs.

Ten months later, they were wed in a beautiful, bucolic ceremony at Grace Winery. Both of their families stayed the weekend at the winery, so everyone was able to spend the weekend together.  Chloe was thrilled to see it was a bright sunny day: “It had rained every weekend that month, and the forecast predicted rain for our entire wedding weekend,” she said. “However, it ended up being perfectly sunny which was a happy surprise for everyone.” Their favorite moment was when her brother officiated the ceremony. “Both Chris and I knew we wanted someone we loved to officiate our wedding,” says Chloe.

Their winery reception was simple and romantic, with seasonal wildflowers including lace hydrangea, dahlias, pin cushion flowers, and other foliage as decor. Fairy lights dotted the wooden beams of the ceiling, and votives lines the tables, which had pretty pressed fern table numbers to guide guests to their seats.

Chloe and Chris shared their first dance to “That’s How Strong My Love Is” by Otis Redding, while guests sipped on wines from the winery and a selection of beers, and dined on appetizers like caprese bites, hen of the woods tarts, basil agnolotti, sage pigs in a blanket, and beef canapés before enjoying a delicious dinner and a sweet lemon cake. Guests danced the night way and went home with charming potted succulents as favors. After the big celebration, the newlyweds took off on a relaxing honeymoon to St. Martin, before returning to their home in Saratoga Springs, New York, where the two veterinarians live happily with their three adorable dogs.
