PW Reader Ring: Lianna & Jordan!

Lianna’s ring!

The couple: Lianna Shablin and Jordan Liss from Philadelphia.

The ring: My ring is a cushion-cut diamond with a halo setting set on a vintage-inspired platinum diamond Tacori band. After asking what my “hypothetical” ring would look like and receiving a variety of designs from indesicive me, I was told I was just confusing him, so Jordan decided to design the ring himself. He went to Cooke & Berlinger, LLC in Haverford, and worked with Peter Cooke to bring the ring of my dreams to life.

The proposal: Let me start off by saying that I am extremely hard to surprise, and I knew this was stressing Jordan out. I was expecting a proposal around our birthdays (July 21 and July 26). In June 2013, about six months after he and I had talked about a ring, I had planned a day trip to the shore for us. The plan was to relax on the beach in Longport, meet up with friends at Greenhouse, then head to Steve & Cookie’s for a early dinner before the drive home.

While we were laying on the beach, I asked Jordan to go to the water with me. He immediately said no, so I got comfortable with a book. Five minutes later he said “Alright, I’ll go with you.” When we got to the (freezing) ocean, he took my hand and started saying things that made me tear up. Then he took out the ring and asked me to be his wife. By this time I had forgotten how cold it was and was completely in shock. Since I planned the day trip I had no clue that he was going to propose that day ,and it could not have been any more special.

Once calmed down we walked back to our spot on the beach and I started calling my parents and best firends who all knew. Who knew that they could all keep such a huge secret!

The band: I would like my wedding ring to be a platinum diamond Tacori band; I want to have it match my engagment ring as much as possible. We will definitly go back to Peter. Jordan had a great experience with him.
