Hearing Scheduled for Marcus Jones, Man Accused of Beating Philly Trans Woman

A preliminary hearing has been set for Marcus Jones, the 22-year-old homeless man accused of brutally beating a 53-year-old Philadelphia trans woman last month.

According to the official docket, the hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 8th, at 8 a.m. in room 903 at the Criminal Justice Center. Judge Patrick F. Dugan has been assigned to the case.

Jones allegedly attacked the woman on August 18th on the 900 block of North Watts Street, and surveillance video shows him repeatedly punching and kicking the victim until she was unconscious. He then proceeded to kick her in the head.

Police also claim Jones committed two similar attacks the next day on a 61-year-old male and a 48-year-old male. After his August 20th arrest, Jones was charged with one count of attempted murder; two counts each of robbery, aggravated assault, theft-unlawful taking, and theft-receiving stolen property; three counts of simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person.
