Ex-Widener Dean Was Accused of Sexual Abuse in ’80s

For a period of three years in the late 1980s, a former dean at Widener University repeatedly abused a teenage boy by performing oral sex on him. The dean, Michael LeDoux, who was also Franciscan friar, reached a legal settlement with his accuser a decade go. The Franciscans, who knew, never revealed the allegations to Widener, which hired LeDoux in 2003. After receiving a tip this summer, Widener discovered the allegations, and told LeDoux they were commencing an investigation, prompting LeDoux to resign. Now we know why. In the last few years, LeDoux also supervised teachers at aWidener-adjoined charter school. [Inquirer]
