SugarHouse Partners Battle Over Size of Expansion
An additional six stories on a planned parking garage and an extra 1,000 slot machines have the partners behind SugarHouse casino at odds. An original expansion plan laid out in 2009 called for a 12-story parking structure and adding enough slot machines to bring the casino’s total to 3,000. But, with a new casino looming in Philly’s future, two of the partners wanted to scale that idea back to a six-story structure and 2,000 slots. The other partners disagreed and filed a lawsuit in Philly. Both sides are set to file final briefs before a judge issues a decision, a process that might take as long as four months to run its course. [Inquirer]
