Ann Romney’s “Real” Marriage

Did Mitt's wife just take a swipe at same-sex marriage at the RNC?

During the Republican National Convention in Tampa this week, Ann Romney – wife of GOP presidential contender Mitt Romney – touted her “real marriage” to cheering audiences.

“What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage,” she said.

Innocuous or not? The comment has a lot of LGBT voters scratching their heads. While defenders of Romney claim that the comment was innocent, a way to illustrate the relationship she enjoys with her husband. Still others are interpreting it as a slap in the face of marriage equality.

Both Romney and his running mate Paul Ryan have been opposed to same-sex marriage and LGBT rights. but what do you think she meant by “real” marriage?
