West African Boy Bullied at Patterson Elementary

His father's complaints were ignored

Menduawor Comgbaye—a first grader at Patterson School in  Southwest Philly—has been being marked absent for the past two weeks while his parents kept him home from school. He wasn’t missing class because he had a dentist appointment or was running a fever. His parents were keeping him home because a group of bigger first graders had been repeatedly beating Menduawor to the point where he was coming home with bruises and cuts every day. His mother had to take him to the emergency room following one of the incidents. Menduawor’s father had contacted the school and the district on multiple occasions, but little was done. So, he’s been keeping his son at home as the school marks him absent. [Inquirer]
