City Backs Down On Ankle Bracelets
Michael Nutter's administration concedes in the dispute over court funding
Philly’s First Judicial District recently tried to drop $4.5 million on new electronic ankle bracelets for inmates released from prison. Mayor Nutter and his administration opposed the move and tried to withhold allocated funds for the project. That’s when Common Pleas Court President Judge Pamela Pryor Dembe stepped in and threatened to hold money collected by the city’s Prothonotary’s Office hostage. Now the Mayor’s administration is on board with the spending. [Daily News]
