Mr. Gay USA Crowned in Philly

Contestants record anti-bullying video at the Liberty Bell

At Voyeur Nightclub over the weekend, the newest U.S. Mr. Gay was crowned for 2011. The winner, Eddie Rabon (pictured right), hails from Columbia, S.C.

Joining him on top is a first runner up from Philly, Ryan Mattis, as well as second runner up Mario Godiva Green from New York City.

The fitness winner was Charles Biggs from Rehoboth Beach, Del., and the congeniality winner, Clint Hudler, hails from Nashville, Tenn.

The philanthropy award was presented to Ellis Roderick from Allentown, Pa., and the online popularity vote went to Derek Brocklehurst of San Francisco.

As the handsome contestants prepared for their big night, several guys from around the country also recorded a video for the “It Gets Better” project during a special promotional event at the Liberty Bell. Many of the contestant’s shared their own stories about what it was like coming out in small town America and facing bullying and criticism from their families. You can check it out here on G Philly.
