Sweat Test: Row Zone’s Power Pump Workout

Should you do it or ditch it? We try out area classes so you don’t have to waste time — or money — on workouts that don’t make the grade

What we want: A killer arm workout that tones, firms, and blasts calories to get rid of any remaining underarm jiggle — all in under an hour.

What we tried: The 9 a.m. Power Pump rowing class at Row Zone on Wednesday, July 22nd.

Who was teaching: Laura Frigeri

Student/teacher ratio when we dropped by: 4:1

Lockers/Showers: Nada. Plan on hightailing it home for a shower or bringing at least face wipes and some high-powered deodorant if you’re heading straight to work.

What we loved: Not only did we get the killer arm workout that we were hoping for, but the twists and turns Laura threw in with the basic strokes got our abs, too.

Did we sweat?: Profusely. When we thought we couldn’t row for a second longer, Laura got us down on floor mats with weights for pushup/tricep-extension combos and some crazy-hard crunches.

Do it or Ditch it: Do it. Laura kicked our butts. The erg/mat workout was fun and kept us motivated throughout class, and three days later we were still feeling it.

Weigh In: Have you tried this class? Tell us what you thought! And if you have a class you loved or hated, let us know. We could run your Sweat Test in an upcoming newsletter.
