Pulse: 60-Second Critic: Dog Dyeing
An interesting way suburbanites are spending their disposable income

That suburbanites are now putting their disposable income toward having their dogs dyed rather than, say, Darfur relief makes it seem we’re in the End of Days. In fact, we probably are. In this new salon’s sink, Bella, a Pomeranian, yawns contentedly as Kimmy, the salon’s co-owner, massages fuchsia color into her fur (cost: $25 and up); nearby, poodles Rusty and Daisy are dropped off for pedicures. “Rusty gets blue, and Daisy gets pink,” says their owner, an otherwise sane-looking woman. Later they’ll be spritzed with La Poochie cologne before they prance out, without a care in the world.
