Hop Chef Returns To Philly

It’s back–the biggest, trash-talking-est beer pairing event of the summer. The Hop Chef 2014 crew announced its date and lineup today, letting everyone know that they’ll be taking over Union Transfer on Tuesday, July 8, and that they’ll be bringing some of the city’s best-known chefs with them.

So who’s playing this year? Jeremy Nolen of Brauhaus Schmitz and Whetstone, Townsend Wentz from Townsend, Chad Vetter of City Tap House, the Petruce brothers from Petruce et al, James Kenngott of Strangelove’s, Ben Puchowitz of Cheu Noodle Bar and Bing Bing, ex-Top Chef cheftestant Travis Masar (now cooking at Sampan)and Jennifer Choplin.

Oh, and not for nothing? Mike Jerrick from Good Day Philadelphia and, most notably, this, is on board as master of ceremonies, which is just awesome.

As always, the chefs will be tasked with cooking and pairing dishes with a variety of Ommegang beers. As always, those in attendance will get to sample all of them–the beers and the grub. And as always, it’s shaping up to be a helluva good time.

Tickets are $50. And yes, you can get them starting now.
