Vedge’s Rittenhouse Expansion Has A Name (And Some Details)

It’s been a while since we had any news on the new restaurant coming from Vedge’s Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby. We knew that it was coming to Rittenhouse–specifically to 126 S. 19th Street which, yes, is the space right next door to Zama–and that it was set to open in the spring. But everything else about the place was a mystery.

Right up until Landau reached out this morning with some new details.

The new restaurant is going to be called V Street. And while there is a website, there’s nothing really there yet beyond the logo. Landau explained that the concept is going to be street food.

“The food will be adventurous to say the least,” he said. “Bold, spice-forward flavors drawing on the great street foods of the world. Cocktails to match. Uncommon beers, and a small natural wine list, 20 bottles at a time, all by the glass.”

V Street will be just as vegan as Vedge is–but if Vedge has proven anything during its run here in Philly, it’s that “vegan” no longer needs to be synonymous with “limiting,” “dull” or “that gross fake meatloaf my weird college girlfriend used to eat.” And with street food as a basis, the V Street crew will have plenty of directions they can go in when putting together the menu.

As for the opening? Spring seems no longer to be an option. Landau said that V Street will open “when it is ready,” and guessed that it’ll be ready at some point late this summer. Or maybe fall.
