For the past two years, treadmill classes have become  incredibly popular. And no wonder: The high-intensity workouts often combine cardio with strength training, all set to upbeat music, making running — dare we say it — fun. Even those who fear or loathe the dang machine have had a change of heart, some of whom are now kind of obsessed.

Whether you’re already loving these tread-based workouts or are eager to try for yourself, you’ll now be able to try a running and floor workout in the ‘burbs. Torque, a boutique gym in Royersford, is adding treadmill classes into their rotation of spin, barre, and TRX workouts. Starting Saturday, January 25th, build strength and get sweaty during Tread and Tone, Torque’s version of the fitness trend.

The 45-minute class will alternate between music-driven cardio on the tread and total-body strength training on the floor, keeping you (and your muscles!) engaged. Basically, you can expect upper-body free weight exercises and core and glute work interspersed between rounds of running. Plus, Tread and Tone will take place in Torque’s brand new training room, which is decked out with dark walls, glow-in-the-dark lights, shock-absorbing floors, and a killer sound system. That way, you stay motivated and in the zone as you totally crush those HIIT intervals.

Owner Summer Fatzinger says the addition of Tread and Tone to Torque’s class offerings is to help clients further achieve their fitness goals. that aren’t just spin-, barre-, or TRX-based. With all these workouts under one roof, she believes Torque’s commitment to maintaining a positive fitness experience through their “sweat-dance-recharge” mindset will be even more palpable.

Even though Tread and Tone doesn’t start until this Saturday, sign-ups are already open and can be booked here. A single session costs $17, or free if you’re a first-time Torque client.
