Philly certainly likes to get creative with its fitness events and We. Are. Here. For. It. From City Fitness’ Commotion last month — a silent deejay concert that had three simultaneous workouts — to the Unite Philly Run “scavenger hunt”, the fitness community here is no stranger to mixing things up. Need more proof? Just look at Lululemon Fishtown’s upcoming fun run, The Local Race.

Now, while most races would have you, you know, running from start to finish, this two-hour adventure has a few pit stops along the way. Well, six pit stops to be exact.

Here’s how the Lululemon Local Race will go down: You’ll start at the The Local Lululemon store in Fishtown. There, you and your running buddy (oh, yeah, you’ll want to bring one of those) will be given a map outlining the course. Before you head out the door, Vitality Meditation’s coaches will get your mind and intentions set with a brief meditation session. Then, you’re off to the races.

You’ll have two hours to complete the race — which, by the way, you can do via foot, bike, skateboard, hover board, you name it — and along the way you’ll make stops at Amrita Yoga, Balance Studios, City Fitness Fishtown, Crossfit Love, Crossfit Novem, and Grace & Glory Yoga. At each Fishtown gym, you’ll pause for a 10-minute workout.

Now, look, I know what you’re thinking: What can you possibly accomplish in a 10-minute workout? But to that I say: Have you ever done 10 minutes of straight abs? Yeah, not as easy as it sounds.

Finally, you’ll end the race back at The Local Lululemon shop for an afterparty with tunes by DJ Yolo Ono, and treats from Sweetgreen, Pizza Jawn, Weckerly’s, and Stateside Vodka brunch cocktails. So yeah, you’ll get in 60 minutes of sweating, plus a bunch of running (or, you know, hover boarding) and get fed at the end. Sounds like a sweet deal to us.

The Lululemon Local Race will take place on September 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. You can sign up for this free race here, then join the fun at Lululemon at 1424 Frankford Avenue. Any donations made during this race will go to benefit the Make the World Better foundation.
