Pairing Spin and barre seems to be quite the trend: Flywheel has their FlyBarre classes, though not in Philly, the Wall Cycling offers barre at both of their locations, and now, Fishtown’s Ciclo is adding barre to the mix at their Frankford Avenue studio.

The Spin studio has been open since 2014, but they recently moved into a new space — literally a few doors down from their old location — with more room. Owner Mina Carroll got into barre a few years ago and, as she says, “Before I opened Ciclo, there wasn’t really anywhere to take a Spin class in Fishtown, so I wanted to bring it to the neighborhood. And I want to do the same thing with barre.”

The studio has two floors, with the second floor housing the Spin studio with 16 bikes and room to add more. The barre studio, currently in the construction process, will take over the first floor and Carroll says it should be able to fit around 30 students per class. She’s hoping to have the barre studio up and running by May, starting with two classes a day, then adjusting the schedule based on demand.

So pretty soon, that slice of Frankford Avenue on the edge of Fishtown and Kensington will have barre, Spin, yoga (Grace in Glory is just a few steps away), AND vegan ice cream, courtesy of Little Baby’s, to refuel with post-sweat session. Not bad, huh?
