Hey, runners: If you had any plans for Memorial Day (Look at you, planning ahead!), you’re going to want to cancel them. The folks at the Philly 10K announced on their Facebook page yesterday that they’ll be debuting a new event on Memorial Day of 2016. So, yeah, go ahead and clear your schedules for May 30th, people.

You can see the full Facebook post below.

Runners and Friends,We kindly ask that you consider keeping Memorial Day 2016 free. The Philly 10K will be at the end…

The organizers hinted at something in a Facebook post from September, following the second annual Philly 10K, saying, “That’s a wrap for 2015. We are going into a top secret underground running lab where we will be planning The 2016 Philly 10K and The Ph…oops, can’t talk about that one yet.”

So, what can we expect? Well, when I reached out to the organizers, they were pretty tight-lipped but they did tell me that the new race will be “shorter than a 10K but not a 5K.” They’ll be releasing more info about the new race in the new year. Until then, we’ll just be over here hoping there’s free beer and custard involved in this shindig, too. (Go ahead, call us shameless.)
