Meet Boomer, This Week’s Adoptable Running Dog

And they called it puppy love.

Get ready to catch a serious case of puppy love, people. This week’s adoptable running dog, Boomer, is a wee eight months old, with plenty of time to master the art of becoming the best running buddy ever. Learn more about him below.

Name: Boomer Brown

Age: 8 Months

Breed: Hound mix

Size: 40 pounds

Running style: Boomer is a puppy, so he tends to start out very fast but responds to a tug on the leash and slows down to run along by your side. He’s easily distracted by noises but settles back in quickly. He’s also fond of a good mid-run roll in the grass.

Why Boomer is awesome: Boomer has lots of energy and is very curious about the world — did we mention that he’s a puppy? He likes people and other dogs but might not be a good match for a family with small children. While he could use some obedience training to help him contain his puppy enthusiasm, he has the cutest darn smile that’s sure to win your heart over.

We work with The Monster Milers each and every week to profile local running dogs waiting to be adopted. The Monster Milers are a group of runners who help shelter dogs burn off  energy and get much-needed exercise by taking them on runs around the city, and they also just launched their first-of-it’s-kind Adopt a Running Buddy foster program. If you’re not in the market for a pup right now, but would still love to help out homeless dogs, you can always become a Monster Miler volunteer or foster parent.
