To Do: King of Pop Hip-Hop Workshop at Philly Dance Fitness

Trim down while you boogie down.

Can you believe Monday marks the three-year anniversary of Michael Jackson’s death? Philly Dance Fitness is continuing its annual MJ tribute on Sunday, June 24th, at the King of Pop Hip-Hop Workshop at the Arts Parlor in South Philly.

At the hour-and-a-half-long workshop, participants will learn the choreography of dances performed by the King himself, including some steps from “Thriller” (naturally). Other dance combinations will be set to songs like “The Way You Make Me Feel,” “ABC” and “Smooth Criminal,” some of which will be completely new routines created for this event. This year, too, there will an additional class for the younger lads and ladies interested in gettin’ down to the King’s hits. This class is for children ages 7 to 12 and will last only 45 minutes. No experience is needed for either of the workshops, so come sweat off that summertime ice cream treat while listening to some nostalgic tunes. More info on event and tickets here.

King of Pop Hip-Hop for Kids: $8 in advance, $10 at the door, 1 to 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 24.

King of Pop Hip-Hop (teens and adults): $12 in advance for non-members and $10 for members; price rises to $15 on midnight June 22. Class is from 2 to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 24.

At the Arts Parlor, 1170 South Broad Street, South Philly.
