Playing sports not only boosts physical fitness, but also improves self-esteem and a sense of independence. The Challenged Athletes Foundation helps people with physical disabilities keep active lifestyles through fitness opportunities and competitive sports. You can raise money for the CAF (and get some exercise for yourself) by running the Old School Trail Run on October 15th. The five-mile race follows a scenic route through Wissahickon Park, beginning at Forbidden Drive. Participants will also receive some North Face swag, including a bag and water bottle. If five miles seems too challenging but you’d still like to contribute, try the one-mile Adventure Walk.

$30 ($37 on-site), October 15, 8:30 a.m., Forbidden Drive, 200 Northwestern Ave.
