Don’t Miss Dietz & Watson’s New South Street Pop-Up Delishop
Foodies get ready—this spring, Philly’s favorite food brand, Dietz & Watson, is celebrating its 80th anniversary on South Street in a big way. On May 1st, Dietz opened the doors to its summer-long pop-up shop, aptly named Delishop. Full of fun apparel and accessories, events, surprise guests, and Instagram-worthy photo ops (like a built-in bodega, backyard area and murals from local artists Gloss Black and Kyle Earl), it’s the perfect place to hang out and beat the heat, all season long.
Swing by to score some of their delicious meats and cheeses, along with their creative culinary-inspired clothing and accessories (a few favorites to look forward to include “Meat Sweats” sweatshirts, “Salami Mami” hoodies, a “Dietz Nuts” sack, and a “Wooder” bottle). But there are plenty of other reasons to make your way to 501 South Street this spring, like all of the exciting weekly and special events you have to look forward to below:
The man of the hour—Gritty—will be making an appearance at the Grand Opening weekend on May 4th. He’ll be handing out Gritty sauce and snapping pics all day long. Plus, the Dietz team will be on deck dishing up snacks like their Landjaegers and Dietz nuts.
Go on and grab yourself a hump day hoagie at the bi-weekly Hoagie Flight happy hour (running throughout the shop’s three-month stay from 5-7pm). Every other week, guests will receive three complementary hoagie samples to taste test, with a store purchase, all provided by local Real Philly Delis.
Every other Tuesday gather your group and stop by South Street for a family fun night filled with Philly’s favorite foods (mini pretzel dogs from Philly Pretzel Factory and water ice), a face painter and a magician.
Have a Pair
For the connoisseur crowd, there will be weekly meat and cheese tastings. Every other week, a local brewery, like Yards or Double Nickel, will be there from 5-7pm to offer beer pairings with the tastings–and it’s free to attend with a store purchase. Wonder how your favorite brews would pair with Dietz meats? Now you’ll know and be prepped to build the ultimate appetizer spread for your next summer party.
Make your meat-loving mama happy with a trip to the Delishop the day before Mother’s Day—May 11th. The first 25 guests will have the opportunity to make their mom a memorable gift—a beautiful charcuterie board personalized with her name. There’ll also be a mom-themed playlist providing the soundtrack for the day.
