We went into our top-of-the-Bucks-County-rental-market search confident that, as was the case on the Main Line, we’d find some spectacular houses occupying this space.

We weren’t disappointed. In fact, we found nothing else up there.

There are no restored barns in this collection, but there is one classic farmhouse. And most of these properties are suitable for the kind of entertaining some Bucks Countians are known for. One of them is even in the right zip code.

2926 Comfort Rd., New Hope (above) | 4 beds, 3 full, 1 half baths, 5,941 square feet, $6,000 per month. Pets accepted on a case-by-case basis; contact listing agent for details.

This is the house that’s in the right zip code. Like many New Hope party palaces, it’s in Solebury Township, which shares its highly-regarded school district with New Hope Borough. Yet even though it has the space to entertain on a grand scale inside and out, this French-inspired château presents a more serene, restrained and dignified face to guests than those huge party barns. Which doesn’t mean you can’t throw a helluva party here. In the winter months, your guests should especially enjoy hanging out with you by the fireplace in its kitchen, one of four in this spacious house, and in the summer, you might engage them in a pickup basketball game on its outdoor athletic court.

1636 Wrightstown Rd., Newtown | 4 beds, 3 full, 2 half baths, 7,265 square feet, $5,500 per month. Contact listing agent about pet policy.

This sprawling home lies about halfway between the antiques mecca of Newtown and the historic village of Washington Crossing, so it should come as no surprise that it has lots of traditional design elements, antique furnishings and vintage lighting. Yet its layout and overall sensibility are very contemporary, from the glass block in the foyer to the angled ceilings and skylights in several of its rooms. It sits on a 10-acre lot that features both a swimming pool and a tranquil pond, and it also has an expansive deck and an attractive landscaped courtyard in the space between it and the guest house on the property. You can rent the guest house as well for an additional $2,000 per month if you like.

772 Worthington Mill Rd., Wrightstown | 4 beds, 3 full, 1 half baths, 5,041 square feet, $5,000 per month. Contact listing agent about pet policy.

Wrightstown is one of the oldest settlements in Bucks County, dating to 1684, and this is the oldest of the houses in our roundup. Built in 1818, this is a handsome and classic stone-and-clapboard farmhouse that has been sensitively updated and expanded over the centuries. Wood beams and stone fireplaces add plenty of character to its rooms, and its kitchen got a Lyn Taylor upgrade that turned it into a space worthy of a professional chef, with a Garland range with grill and salamander to top it all off. A wraparound porch lets you enjoy its wooded lot and the preserved farmland around you, and it has a detached artist’s studio with wood-burming stove and large sliding glass doors leading to the yard.

1044 Old Bethlehem Rd., Perkasie | 5 beds, 3 full, 1 half baths, 5,445 square feet (excluding unfinished basement), $4,995 per month. Contact leasing agent about pet policy.

This newest of the week’s featured rentals is also the only property being offered to those who are actually looking to commit somewhere down the road: the rental is actually a lease-purchase arrangement, and there’s a required deposit of $25,000 to demonstrate your commitment. That’s still less than the down payment would be on this handsome neotraditional home, and while you await the day you move from renter to owner, you can enjoy all the amenities this home has to offer. In addition to the space and charm on the inside, you get great farmland views and a pool with a hot tub on the outside. And you can add even more space for your activities by finishing the 2,000-square-foot basement.

This handsome contemporary rancher sits on a 3-acre lot that backs up onto woodlands that reinforce its sense of seclusion.
