This Flyers Dancer Has No Idea She’s About to Get Engaged Mid-Performance

Here at Philadelphia Wedding, we can’t get enough of proposals. We love the romance, the excitement, and the new beginnings. But this Philadelphia proposal, of a Philadelphia Flyers Ice Girl and her smitten beau, is one for the record books — and even includes a pre-game dance! Read on to see photos and learn how it happened, then watch the sweet video below.
The Couple: Cassie Foley, 27, and Kellen Matthews-Thompson, 27, of Cheltenham
How They Got Together (as told by Cassie): We met at a music festival in Maryland in the summer of 2014. As cliché as it sounds it was “love at first sight” and we instantly connected, Although we started dating in 2014, we broke up (we were both young and immature) but got back together in 2016. We’ve been rock solid ever since. We’ve have been together for two and a half years now.
The Proposal Story (as told by Cassie): The proposal happened the day of the first snow of the winter 2018 season. I’m a Philadelphia Flyers Ice Girl. We had a game that evening so I was just focused on driving to the game and driving back home safely. During our pre-game performance the music changed. At first I didn’t even notice because I tune everything out when I dance, but my teammates started doing a different routine. I was so confused! I kept dancing and tried to pick up what they were doing because I thought I was messing up our dance.
At the end of the song, my teammate pulled me to the front. I was looking all around. Suddenly, there comes my boyfriend (now fiancé) with my other teammates behind him holding up posters that say “Will you marry me?” He got down on one knee and of course, I said yes!
