The Temple Mascot Just Got Married, and The Eagles Mascot Officiated

Happy Valentine’s Day to our fave live animal Philadelphians.

Valentine’s Day romance is not just confined to the human world, okay? Animal friends can and should get in on the love, especially when their human counterparts are willing to go to wonderfully elaborate lengths to make it special for them. (Case in point: the weiner dog wedding Philly-area photography team Danfredo Photos + Films put on for their pets in 2017. If you haven’t watched the video yet, it will be the best 79 seconds of your day.) That’s why, on this February 14th, we’re sharing the wedding of Temple live owl mascot, Stella, to her longtime boo — or should we say hoot? 😉 — Sherlock.

Stella and Sherlock’s celebration took place at Elmwood Park Zoo. Noah, the live bald eagle mascot of the Philadelphia Eagles, presided over the ceremony. The couples’ handlers helped the owls *literally* tie the knot with a piece of white ribbon, and, in a delightfully progressive touch likely influenced by his team, Noah pronounced Stella and Sherlock “partners” for life.
