Prepare for I-676 Road Closures Next Week

Plan your detour — the highway will close overnight for four nights as part of a bridge reconstruction project.

I-676 will close overnight for four nights next week in the next stage of a four-year PennDOT construction project.

I-676 road closures will be in effect from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. between the I-76 and Broad Street interchanges, according to PennDOT. All lanes will be affected while crews replace parts of the deck and beams belonging to the Benjamin Franklin Parkway/20th Street bridge.

The $64.8 million project was enacted to replace seven outdated bridges over I-676 between 18th Street and 22nd Street while improving surrounding landscapes and streetscapes. The project began April 2015 and is expected to finish up in fall 2019.
