Email Scandal Claims Another Career

Lancaster County prosecutor resigns after reports he received, forwarded racy content.

Lancaster Online reports that Richard Sheetz, a Lancaster County prosecutor who formerly worked for then-Attorney General Tom Corbett, has resigned after his name emerged in the ongoing scandal about racy emails circulating in the state office while Corbett was in charge. The resignation came Monday.

A detailed file on Sheetz — one of four released publicly to various media outlets Friday — showed that the East Hempfield resident received scores of the sexually-charged emails. And on 33 occasions he passed them on.

Many of the forwarded emails, which are heavily redacted, have sexually suggestive subject lines like “Tan Lines XXX,” Seven Beauties XXX” and “Sexy Wedding XX.” Copies of the emails were released by Kane’s office in response to media requests.

Sheetz becomes the third former Corbett employee — but the first already out of state government —to resign over the scandal. DEP Secretary Christopher Arbuzzo made his departure public last week, followed by Glenn Parno, a top lawyer in the department.
