Shock: SEPTA Shows Concern for Passengers
If you ride the Market-Frankford El to and from work, you’ve probably noticed that SEPTA has canceled all of its express trains this week “due to cold weather”, meaning that every single train stops at every single station, leading to a longer commute.
This got me wondering why the heck SEPTA would need to eliminate its express service just because it’s cold outside. Are they afraid that the speedy trains are going to hit ice and fly off the tracks? Didn’t the designers know how cold it gets here when they built this thing?
Well, there’s no scandal or demonstration of incompetence here, folks. “When the city issues a Code Blue, we stop at every station so that we don’t leave people waiting in the cold,” explains SEPTA spokesperson Kristin Geiger. “We don’t want our passengers to freeze.” So nice!
