Mayor Frank Rizzo’s Daughter Charged in Federal Bookmaking Case

Joanna Mastronardo—the daughter of former Philly Mayor Frank Rizzo—has been charged in a federal bookmaking case along with 15 others. The case revolves around what is alleged to have been a multimillion dollar gambling ring that saw Joanna Mastronardo’s husband, “Joe Vito,” and his brother taking bets over the Internet and the phone. It’s not their first experience with this sort of thing, either. Montco investigators seized millions of dollars a few years back when they were raiding the alleged operation. The case was eventually turned over to the feds. Joey Mastronardo—son of Joanna and Joe Vito—is among the other defendants in the case. [Inquirer]
