Mayor Nutter Opens Office to Get Federal Grants
The Office of Grants is now a thing that exists in Philadelphia. Mayor Nutter created the office on executive order and placed Maari Porter—who’s been in charge of the city’s stimulus money from the Recovery Act since 2010—in charge. Basically, the office will streamline all grant applications on behalf of the city in an attempt to secure more federal funding. Porter will make $115,000 a year in her new position and will likely focus on public safety funding out of the gate. [Inquirer]
