Manhunt for 40 and Up
If you’ve been on Manhunt, a site that lets gay men cruise each other online (and on its popular mobile app) then you know the drill – lots of explicit photos and no-nonsense language about sexual likes, tastes and a few fetishes thrown in for good measure.
Manhunt, however, is rebooting for men 40 and older. The new marketing angle was developed after noticing that there are fewer resources for older men (guess 40’s considered over the hill in gay years). Either that or everyone is searching for their very own “silver fox.”
Launched as “Sex Over 40,” the tool will be added for all Manhunt members in the gay and bisexual men’s community with new features that cover relevant topics about sex and aging. The site will also integrate items from The Huffington Post and Psychology Today contributor Dr. Loren A. Olsen, author of Finally Out: Letting Go of Living Straight.
Manhunt’s estimated to have as many as four million members worldwide. In recent years men have joined many other competing sites, like Grindr, Scruff and Growlr – namely ones engaged with younger gay and bisexual male users. The new 40-plus features are available at Manhuntcares.com under the “health” tab.
“Manhunt Cares is thrilled to provide this new resource to an underserved population of gay and bisexual men,” says David Novak, senior health strategist at Online Buddies. The company recently conducted a national men’s sex study. It revealed that of the more than 25,000 respondents, almost half were 40 years or older and 68 percent were 30 or older.
Perhaps 40 is really the new 20 – online, anyway.
