Public Schools to Close at 1:30 for Excessive Heat

Peer pressure parochial schools to do the same

The School District of Philadelphia will dismiss students at 1:30 p.m. today because the combination of high temperatures and high humidity could cause “heat illness.” No word from the parochial schools, where students are presumably wearing their sweaters buttoned with their knee-socks pulled up, getting heat stroke like good Catholics. Update: The Catholic kids get to go home early, too! That, dear readers, is what we call peer pressure. [@PhillyBrk]
