41,000 Poor Pennsylvanians No Longer Have Health Coverage. Citing budget problems, Governor Tom Corbett axed adultBasic, and the program has expired. The uninsured will now have to wait until the Medicaid expansion in 2014—unless, of course, Corbett gets his way and the national healthcare law is struck down, too. [Newsworks]

Philly Students Suck At Science. Our fourth graders scored 19 percent lower on science than the national average; our eighth graders, 20 percent.
