Towamencin Turkey Trot 5K, November 21, 2009
With Thanksgiving just a week away, it’s time to up your calorie burn. This course winds through Towamencin’s roads and trails, and all proceeds benefit the Towamencin Parks and Recreation Department. Plus, if you’re quick enough, race officials just might give you a hand with Thanksgiving dinner, since the top male and female finishers both get a free turkey.

Where: Fischer’s Park, 1090 Troxel Road, Lansdale
Time: Registration begins at 9:00 a.m., race starts at 10:00 a.m.
Cost: $17 during pre-registration, $20 day of race.

Abington YMCA Gobble Wobble, November 26, 2009

Aside from the traditional 5K awards the Gobble Wobble is on the look out for the following runners: Cold Turkey (who is the most bundled up), Hot Potato (the more risqué runner, who is least bundled), and Corny Plumage (goes to the best individual and group costume or outfit).

Cost: $23 by November 23, after $30 for Adults and $10 for Children

 

New Jersey
Haddon Township Turkey Trot 5K and 1-Mile Fun Run/Walk, November 28, 2009
Between the paved, flat course, the pre- and post-race parties at Haddon Heights’ Pourhouse, and the certificates of merit for every finisher in the race, you can be sure this event will be a good time from start to finish. Awards go to the top three male and female runners, but they’re also handing out honors to the first Haddon Township resident, Emergency Services employee, and Military Veteran to finish. This year’s race will benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.

Where: Haddon Township Municipal Building, 135 Haddon Ave., Westmont, NJ
Time: Race day registration starts at 7:30 a.m., the 1 mile race at 8:45 a.m., and the 5K at 9:00 a.m.
Cost: $20 by November 27, $25 on race day.

Turkey Day 5K, November 26, 2009
This Pennsauken 5K draws almost 500 runners to Cooper River Park, with all proceeds benefiting the Shirley Mae Breast Cancer Assistance Fund. Free T-shirts go to the first 300 runners to register, but even if you miss that cut, you can still enjoy the picturesque river with complimentary cider and spiced wafers after the race.

Time: 10:00 a.m.
Cost: $20 by November 20; $25 day of race registration.
